Kano State to Enroll 6,000 TB and Leprosy Patients

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) announced a plan to enroll 6,000 vulnerable individuals living with tuberculosis (TB) and leprosy into the state’s contributory healthcare scheme. This initiative, disclosed by the Executive Secretary Dr.

Rahila Aliyu Muktar during a strategic engagement with TB and leprosy supervisors from 44 local government areas, aims to expand access to affordable quality healthcare services. The program aligns with the healthcare transformation agenda of the Kano State government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who seeks to ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare for vulnerable residents.

Dr. Muktar emphasized that the enrollment will remove financial barriers affecting those with TB and leprosy, enabling them to access comprehensive medical services through KSCHMA's network of accredited healthcare providers.

The initiative also aims to strengthen disease control and improve case management while reducing catastrophic healthcare expenses for vulnerable populations across the state.
