Kasi Cloud Datacentres Launches to Boost Nigeria's Data Sovereignty

The launch of Kasi Cloud Datacentres in Lagos, spearheaded by Taiwo Oyedele, emphasizes the need to strengthen Nigeria's data sovereignty. The project aims to provide local businesses and research institutions with access to world-class AI computing capabilities.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, highlighted that this initiative marks a strategic choice for the country, moving from being a consumer of artificial intelligence to a producer. The project is expected to create jobs and enhance skills, with Johnson Agogbua, the Chief Executive Officer of Kasi Cloud, stating that Africa must actively participate in the AI revolution.

The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), represented by Aminu Umar Sadiq, supports this initiative as a bold investment thesis made four years ago. The Kasi Cloud Datacentres represent Nigeria's first indigenous hyperscale data centre, aiming to host next-generation cloud and AI infrastructure domestically.
