Katsina Government Denies Sponsoring Bandits for Hajj

The Katsina State Government issued a statement on Thursday denying allegations that it sponsored bandit leaders for Hajj, which were reportedly made by Dr. Bashir Kurfi during a program aired on Trust TV.

The government, represented by Nasir Mua, described the claims as entirely baseless and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and undermine ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the state. The statement emphasized that the government remains committed to supporting security agencies in their fight against banditry and related crimes.

It expressed concern over the timing of the allegations, which coincide with a period of recorded success against criminal activities in the state. The government accused individuals and groups of politicizing security issues for personal interests and warned that failure to substantiate such allegations could compel the state to explore legal options to protect its reputation.

Residents were urged to disregard the claims and continue supporting security efforts to restore peace and stability in Katsina State.
