Dr. Usman Kurfi Detained Over Hajj Sponsorship Allegations

Dr. Usman Kurfi, a security analyst, was detained by the Katsina State Police Command on Tuesday in response to allegations he made during a recent interview with Trust TV.

In the interview, Kurfi claimed that certain bandit leaders were being sponsored to perform the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. Following these comments, he was invited by the police to provide evidence supporting his claims.

Kurfi was expected to address these allegations in court on Tuesday; however, the proceedings could not continue as the presiding judge was unavailable. He was detained around 1:00 PM and is reported to be in good health, with expectations that the court will resume on Wednesday to continue the matter.

Efforts to obtain official comments from the Katsina State government and the police command have been unsuccessful, as no responses were received to multiple inquiries.
