Katsina State Government Sets 16-Day Ultimatum for Property Owners to Update C of O

The Katsina State government has given property owners a 16-day ultimatum to update their Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) as part of a major reform initiative set to begin in 2026. The announcement was made during a sensitization event organized by the Katsina Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA).

Ibrahim Tukur Jikamshi, the Director-General of KIPA, emphasized that properties without a valid C of O are considered dead capital, hindering owners from accessing benefits like loans. The state's digitized land records and geographic information services aim to streamline the C of O process, making it faster and more transparent, reducing the processing time from 20 days to 16 days.
