Katsina Health Workers to Strike from September 8

The Assembly of Health Care Professionals in Katsina State announced a seven-day warning strike beginning at midnight on September 8. This decision was made after the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum issued to the Katsina State Government on August 11, which ended without any serious commitment from the government to address the unions' longstanding demands.

The notice was jointly signed by Mr Ibrahim Balange, the Chairman of the assembly, along with chairmen and secretaries of four unions: the Health Workers Union of Nigeria, National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria, and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria. Balange stated that if the government does not address their demands by the end of the warning strike, the unions will proceed to an indefinite strike.

He urged the public to hold the government accountable for any inconveniences caused by the industrial action, emphasizing that all avenues for resolution had been exhausted.
