Katsina Police Arrest 247 Suspects, Rescue 17 Victims

In August 2026, the Katsina State Police Command arrested 247 suspects and rescued 17 kidnapped victims during operations across the state. The arrests included three suspected kidnappers, 15 armed robbers, and 31 drug peddlers, among others.

The Command, represented by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abubakar Sadiq, reported the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 145 suspected rustled livestock, six motorcycles, and 1,500 pieces of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food. The operations were part of an intensified effort against crime, including kidnapping and banditry, through intelligence-led strategies and inter-agency collaboration.

A total of 122 major criminal cases were reported, with 89 already charged to court. The rescued victims were debriefed, medically examined, and reunited with their families.

The Command maintained community-policing engagements to enhance trust and intelligence sharing, attributing its successes to collaboration with other security agencies.
