Katsina Proposes N828.64bn Budget for 2027 Fiscal Year

The Katsina State Government has proposed a budget of N828.64 billion for the 2027 fiscal year, with 77% designated for capital expenditure and 23% for recurrent spending. This proposal, titled ‘Building Your Future Agenda IV’, was approved during the 14th Regular Meeting of the State Executive Council for 2026, chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas, stated that the proposed budget totals N828,638,844,091.48, reflecting a decrease of N69.23 billion from the 2026 budget. The budget will be financed through N95.77 billion in internally generated revenue, N234.30 billion in capital receipts, and N487.81 billion from other expected receipts, with an opening balance of approximately N10.7 billion.

Sectoral allocations include 38.33% for the Social Sector, 35.59% for the Economic Sector, 23.97% for Administration, and 1.11% for Law and Justice. Key priority areas include Education (13.41%), Works, Housing and Transport (11.22%), Agriculture and Livestock Development (10.33%), Health (8.41%), and Rural Development (7.92%).

The budget proposal will be presented to the Katsina State House of Assembly for scrutiny as per Section 121 of the 1999 Constitution.
