Katsina State Begins 2027 Budget Defense Process

The Katsina State Government has initiated the budget defense process for the 2027 fiscal year, coordinated by the Katsina State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. This exercise is crucial for the annual budget preparation, focusing on prudent resource allocation and aligning government spending with development priorities.

Malik Anas, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, chairs the budget defense committee, emphasizing the need for realistic and performance-driven budget proposals from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). On the opening day, the Office of the Governor, the Office of the Deputy Governor, and the Ministry of Information presented their proposed budget estimates.

The committee conducted a thorough review of these proposals, examining previous budget performances, personnel costs, and other budget components. The budget defense aims to ensure efficient allocation of public funds and assess ongoing programs, ensuring proposed expenditures align with the state's policy objectives.

The process will continue with other MDAs before finalizing the proposed Appropriation Bill for submission to the Katsina State House of Assembly.
