Katsina Traditional Rulers Praise Security Forces for Thwarting Abduction

Several traditional rulers in Katsina State commended the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilante groups for successfully foiling an armed bandit’s attempt to carry out a mass abduction in Bakori Local Government Area. The incident involved an attempt to abduct residents of Unguwan Hudu village in Kakumi Ward.
The state government had previously acknowledged security agencies for thwarting a similar abduction in Gidan Iyado, Kakumi Ward, where 18 bandits were killed by a combined security team. The district head of Bakori LGA expressed gratitude for the collaboration among security agencies and local communities, which has been instrumental in protecting farming communities.
The thwarted attempt was reportedly led by bandits operating from Mununu Forest, and intelligence from the DSS enabled security forces to block their route, causing the bandits to abandon 18 victims, including 14 females and four males. One victim, 14-year-old Zainab Ashiru, sustained a gunshot injury and was admitted to the General Hospital in Bakori.
