Kebbi Governor Creates New District, Appoints Heads

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the establishment of a new district named Zarmakwai in Suru Local Government Area, which was created from Aljannare District. Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar Sarki has been appointed as the pioneer District Head of Zarmakwai.

Additionally, the Tarasa Village Head has been elevated to a district, carved out of Kola District in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, with Alhaji Faruku Abubakar appointed as the District Head of this newly created district. The announcement was made in a statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsinmari, on Thursday.

The approvals align with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, which empowers local governments to create districts and appoint district heads. Dutsinmari urged the newly appointed district heads to serve their communities with integrity and commitment, emphasizing the importance of effective traditional institutions for peace and community development.

The appointments take immediate effect.
