Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Joins Nigeria at UN Assembly

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has joined Nigeria’s delegation at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, which commenced on September 8, 2026. He is participating alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is representing President Bola Tinubu.

The assembly's theme is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.” The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, outlined Nigeria’s engagements during the assembly, where Shettima is set to present Nigeria’s national statement on September 24. Governor Idris aims to engage with global leaders, development partners, and investors to attract investment and strengthen partnerships for Kebbi State's development.

His participation includes discussions on peace, security, sustainable development, and investment, particularly around the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework, 2026–2030. Other notable engagements include the SDG Roundtable Discussion 2026 and the Nigeria Investment Forum, with the involvement of several other Nigerian governors and ministers.
