Kebbi State to Host Mass Wedding for 300 Couples

Kebbi State is set to sponsor a mass wedding for 300 couples, as announced by Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, the chairman of the mass wedding committee. The event, which is the third edition of the program, will take place in Birnin Kebbi, with the presence of Governor Nasir Idris and Islamic clerics.

Beneficiaries have been selected from the state's 21 local government areas and 225 wards through a screening process. The program is open to eligible indigenes regardless of ethnic or religious background.

Each groom will receive N250,000 as dowry in accordance with Islamic law. Couples will undergo compulsory medical screenings to determine their health status compatibility.

The Nana Foundation, led by the governor's wife, will provide essential items such as mattresses, food, and household necessities to help couples start their married life. A monitoring committee will oversee the welfare of the couples to ensure proper use of the provided items.
