Kebbi State Allocates N75M for Mass Wedding Dowries

The Kebbi State government has approved a total of N75 million to provide dowries for 300 couples as part of a mass wedding program scheduled for July 27, 2026. Governor Nasir Idris sanctioned the payment of N250,000 for each bride, totaling N750 million for the initiative.

This program, organized in collaboration with the Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation, is designed to support eligible orphans, widows, and divorcees in meeting religious, medical, and legal requirements for marriage. Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, the chairman of the organizing committee and a member of the National Organizing Secretary of the Progress Congress, announced the details during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi.

The mass wedding will include couples from all religious affiliations, with previous events having successfully included Christian couples. The program aims to provide essential household items and furniture to newly married couples to help them establish stable homes, while also creating employment opportunities for local craftsmen.
