Chief Justice of Nigeria Vows Swift Action on Financial Crime Cases

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has reaffirmed the judiciary's commitment to expediting financial crime cases. Speaking at the Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime, she emphasized the importance of timely and transparent judicial decisions in meeting Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements.

Nigeria's recent placement on the FATF Grey List has raised international concerns about money laundering and terrorism financing. Justice Kekere-Ekun praised efforts by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to address these issues and work towards Nigeria's removal from the list.

The judiciary remains dedicated to upholding the rule of law and enhancing efficiency in combating economic crimes, aligning with national and international standards.
