Keyamo Supports Soludo's Scrutiny of Peter Obi's Tenure

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has defended the Anambra State Government's decision to scrutinize the record of Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. Keyamo criticized the perceived hypocrisy of Nigerians who continue to examine President Bola Tinubu's record from his time as Lagos State governor 27 years ago while opposing scrutiny of Obi's administration, which ended 19 years ago.

The Anambra State Government has recently released records alleging that Obi left behind loans and other obligations after his tenure. Obi has refuted these claims, asserting that he left Anambra without debts and challenged the Soludo administration to prove otherwise.

The state government, represented by Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Law Mefor, stated that external loans during Obi's tenure amounted to $123.7 million, with an outstanding balance of $92.35 million as of June 2026. Keyamo emphasized that both Obi and Tinubu are seeking the same office and should therefore be subject to the same scrutiny.
