Kidnappers Demand N260 Million for Electoral Commissioner's Wife

Hajiya Rahmat Ahm, the wife of Barrister Ahm, who is associated with the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC), was kidnapped on September 29, 2025, along the New Bussa-Mokwa road. The kidnappers initially demanded N260 million after the family had already raised N40 million through contributions from friends, colleagues, and family members.

The kidnappers refused to accept the N40 million unless it was converted to dollars. Hajiya Rahmat disclosed that the family has exhausted all means to secure her husband's release and is struggling to meet the financial demands, which have taken a heavy emotional and financial toll, especially concerning the education of their children.

The family has faced threats from the kidnappers, including insults and threats to kill Barrister Ahm if the ransom is not paid. Hajiya Rahmat has appealed to Governor Umaru Bago for intervention, stating that the family can no longer bear the emotional and financial burden of the prolonged captivity.
