Families Despair as N155m Ransom Rejected for Abductees

Almost six months after 176 residents were abducted in Kwara State, their families have expressed despair as kidnappers allegedly rejected over N155 million raised for their release. Community leaders, including Abdul Ibrahim, stated that despite exhausting all options, including public protests and negotiations, no victims have been freed.

The situation worsened when the kidnappers threatened to execute some captives and force others into marriage. Ibrahim emphasized that the families have sold valuables and emptied their savings in hopes of securing their loved ones' freedom.

Suleiman Bukata, a community leader, urged security agencies to conduct intensive operations, citing successful rescues in neighboring Oyo State. The victims were taken on February 3 during a violent attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, which resulted in numerous fatalities.
