Kwara Families Despair as N155m Ransom Rejected

Almost six months after the abduction of 176 residents in Kwara State, families are losing hope as kidnappers reportedly rejected over N155 million raised for their release. Community leaders, including Abdul Ibrahim, have accused authorities of failing to secure the victims' freedom and expressed deep concern for their safety following threats from the gunmen to execute some captives and force others into marriage.

Despite exhausting all options, including public protests and negotiations, no victims have been released. Ibrahim stated that the community's efforts to raise the funds were in vain, leading to increased suffering and uncertainty for the families.

Suleiman Bukata, the Dan Sardaukin Kaiama, called for intensified security operations in the affected areas, referencing successful rescues in neighboring Oyo State. The abductions occurred on February 3, when armed assailants attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, resulting in numerous fatalities.
