Gunmen Kill Three, Abduct Nine in Kogi State Attack

On Friday, in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, gunmen attacked passengers returning from Nkwo Idoko market, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and the abduction of nine others. The victims, primarily traders from Ajobe community in Ojoku district, were traveling in a pick-up van along the Ankpa-Adoka-Makurdi federal road when they encountered the assailants.

Eyewitness Yakubu Ishyaku reported that as the gunmen opened fire, some passengers attempted to escape, leading to the immediate deaths of three—two males and one female—who were later buried according to Islamic rites. The kidnappers contacted a family member of one victim, demanding N20 million for each abductee.

Mrs. Achenetu Akubo, sister of one of the kidnapped individuals, revealed that her sister Mariam and her daughter were among those taken, with a ransom of N40 million demanded for their release. She expressed concern for her sister's health, noting that she did not have her medication with her.
