Kogi State Recovers 1,000 Rustled Livestock from Bandits

Kogi State has successfully recovered 1,000 rustled livestock in a recent operation targeting remnants of the late bandit kingpin Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo's syndicate. Kingsley Fanwo, the state's Commissioner for Information, disclosed that the operation was executed by the Nigerian Army's 12 Brigade, alongside hybrid forces from the Department of State Services (DSS), local police, and vigilante hunters.

The recovery was made possible through credible intelligence that indicated the bandits were attempting to sell the stolen livestock to fund their operations. During the operation, armed bandits engaged security forces in fierce gun battles, resulting in several criminals being neutralized while others fled with varying degrees of bullet wounds.

The recovered livestock is currently secured in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, with arrangements made for the identification and prompt return to their rightful owners. Fanwo commended the collaboration among security agencies and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring safety and security in Kogi State.
