Victor Mac Adonai Wins Hansik Cooking Contest in Abuja

Victor Mac Adonai emerged as the winner of the third edition of the Hansik cooking competition held in Abuja, Nigeria, becoming the first male champion of the event. Organized by the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria, the competition attracted twenty participants eager to explore Korean cuisine and its cultural heritage.

The contest featured several rounds of intense cooking sessions evaluated by professional chefs, ultimately reducing the field to eight finalists. Adonai's winning dish, doenjang jjigae, a traditional soybean paste stew, was praised for its representation of Korean comfort food and its alignment with the competition's theme, "Soul Hansik." Adonai described his victory as a significant milestone, symbolizing his desire to make history as the first male winner.

The competition is part of broader efforts to deepen cultural diplomacy between Nigeria and South Korea, with plans for Adonai to launch a Nigerian brand of ramyun noodles in collaboration with a Korean product company. The event also highlighted the increasing influence of Korean pop culture among Nigerian youth.
