Kwankwaso Condemns Attack on Obi's Convoy in Benue

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), condemned the attack on the convoy of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during his trip to Benue State. Kwankwaso described the incident as a disturbing development, alleging that unruly elements were mobilized to block and attack Obi’s convoy to prevent him from entering Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

In a statement on Facebook, he stated that this incident marked another dark day for democracy, highlighting that freedom of movement is guaranteed to every Nigerian under the Constitution. He called on the Benue State Government to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack and to ensure the safety of Obi and his entourage.

Kwankwaso also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to caution state governors against actions that could undermine democratic values and urged the international community to take note of the incident, emphasizing the need to protect opposition leaders and uphold democratic freedoms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
