Aondoakaa Condemns Blockade of Obi's Convoy in Benue

Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, condemned the obstruction of Peter Obi's convoy, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Makurdi. Aondoakaa, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, characterized the incident as an assault on democracy and urged security agencies to investigate those responsible.

In a statement released by his media assistant, James Ian, Aondoakaa asserted that Nigerians possess constitutional rights to freedom of movement, association, and political participation, regardless of political affiliations. He argued that obstructing or intimidating political opponents contradicts democratic principles and could jeopardize peaceful political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aondoakaa emphasized that the incident misrepresented the character of Benue State, which is known for its hospitality and respect for diverse backgrounds. He called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, demanding justice for those found responsible, irrespective of their status or political connections.
