Sowore Condemns Blockade of Peter Obi's Convoy in Benue

Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, condemned the blockade of Peter Obi's convoy in Benue State, which he described as a sponsored attack. The incident occurred as Obi attempted to enter Makurdi for campaign activities.

Sowore stated that no candidate should face violence or intimidation while campaigning in Nigeria. Obi reported that he was stopped by protesters on Gboko Road, who were allegedly led by a Special Assistant to the government.

He intended to visit victims of killings in the state. The Benue State government, represented by Chief Press Secretary Kula Tersoo, denied any knowledge of Obi's visit.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed awareness of Obi's movement and stated that police provided security for his convoy, but the reasons for the blockade by the youths remain unknown. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
