Kwankwaso Condemns Cleric's Divisive Comments Ahead of 2027

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), criticized comments made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, who supported the continuation of Muslim-Muslim presidential tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections. Kwankwaso expressed his concerns in a statement on his official X account, stating that such remarks are divisive and could undermine national unity.

He highlighted the responsibility of influential religious leaders to foster peace and reconciliation rather than promote division. Kwankwaso asserted that the people of Kano do not endorse Jingir's comments and emphasized the need for political and religious leaders to uphold truth and national cohesion.

He also noted that the upcoming 2027 elections would allow Nigerians to evaluate the current administration's performance and decide on its future mandate, suggesting that the administration has not earned a positive assessment.
