Kwankwaso Affirms Obi's One-Term Commitment for 2027

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), stated during an interview on News Central’s 60 Minutes with Mr. Kay that he believes Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, will fulfill his commitment to serve only one term if elected in the 2027 presidential election. Kwankwaso emphasized that Obi has publicly made this promise and should be trusted to keep his word, asserting, “I personally believe Peter Obi is a gentleman.” He explained that the power-sharing arrangement within the NDC is based on mutual trust among coalition partners and argued that allowing the South to complete an eight-year tenure aligns with their collective agreement.

Kwankwaso noted that the coalition has developed a shared roadmap for governance that transcends individual ambitions, focusing on continuity of programs regardless of who leads the country. He reiterated that the NDC aims to implement its agreed agenda, ensuring that whoever becomes president adheres to it.
