Kwankwaso and Obi Sign One-Term Presidency Agreement

On Channels Television’s Politics Today, Rabiu Kwankwaso stated that he and Peter Obi signed a formal agreement committing to a single four-year term in office to uphold power rotation principles. This arrangement stipulates that Obi would serve as president from 2027 to 2031 before supporting a return of the presidency to the North.

When asked about his trust in Obi to honor the agreement, Kwankwaso affirmed his confidence, stating, “Yes, I do. Based on what I now know about him, I don’t think he will change his mind when the time comes.” Furthermore, Kwankwaso indicated that an NDC administration would engage in dialogue with terrorists and criminal groups to address insecurity, complementing military operations.

He emphasized that while dialogue would be pursued, it would not replace decisive military action. Kwankwaso also noted the importance of rebuilding trust between communities and security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, citing shared governance ideas with Obi as a reason for their collaboration.
