Kwara Government Denies Political Motive in Billboard Removal

The Kwara State Government has refuted claims made by Bolakale Kawu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, that his campaign billboard was removed for political reasons. Ibraheem Abdullateef, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRazaq on Communications, stated that opposition campaign materials remain visible in Ilorin.

He explained that the advertising company managing the billboard, Al-Mubarak, was indebted to the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) and had been banned from operating. Abdullateef alleged that the billboard's removal was an attempt by the opposition to create a political controversy.

Kawu's media office accused the AbdulRazaq administration of political oppression, claiming the billboard was taken down before the rental period expired. They asserted that all necessary payments and procedures were completed prior to the billboard's erection.

Kawu called for a fair political environment and urged civil society to oppose what he termed political intimidation.
