Kwara Residents Protest Over Abducted Victims' Captivity

On Friday, residents of Kaiama, Woro, Nuku, and surrounding areas in the Kwara North Senatorial District protested the ongoing captivity of over 100 victims abducted during a deadly attack in February. The protest highlighted the plight of 176 victims from Woro still held by kidnappers.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) commended the residents for their courage and criticized the Kwara state government, led by Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, for its silence and perceived inaction regarding the security crisis. Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, stated that the citizens' direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu indicated a loss of confidence in the governor's ability to protect them.

The PDP called for accountability from the governor regarding his engagement with victims' families and the government's rescue strategies. The protest underscored the urgent need for effective security measures and leadership from state authorities.
