Kwara Fire Service Urges Fire Safety After Ita-Amodu Blaze

The Kwara State Fire Service has called on traders and business owners to install fire detection and suppression systems at their premises after a fire outbreak at Ita-Amodu, Niger Junction, Ilorin, destroyed several shops. Chief Fire Officer Alabi Muhammed visited the scene on Monday to sympathize with affected traders and assess the damage.

He expressed concern over the significant losses incurred by the shop owners and reassured them of the Fire Service's commitment to protecting lives and property in the state. During his visit, Muhammed emphasized the importance of proactive fire safety measures, particularly for businesses handling highly combustible materials.

He advised business owners to invest in fixed fire protection installations and automated systems that can detect and respond to fires even in their absence, which could mitigate the impact of fire outbreaks. The Oke-Aluko/Ita-Amodu community commended the Fire Service for their prompt response in preventing further destruction.

The visit was part of the Fire Service's efforts to combine emergency response with public education on fire prevention.
