Kwara State Approves 30% Allowance for Media Workers

The Kwara State Government has approved a 30% peculiar allowance for workers in media houses, agencies, and parastatals, which was previously excluded from earlier implementations for mainstream civil servants. This decision was announced on Monday in Ilorin by Olufunk Shittu, the Head of Service, who stated that the initiative is part of a renewed effort to deepen equity and inclusion across the state's public service.

The allowance will take effect on June 1, 2026, and aims to correct earlier disparities, ensuring that all categories of public servants benefit equitably from the state's welfare policies. Shittu commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his unwavering commitment to fair worker welfare and inclusivity within the workforce.

She urged affected workers to remain dedicated to supporting government programs aimed at improving welfare and service delivery. Additionally, Shittu revealed that salaries for the month of May were paid ahead of the Eid el-Kabir celebration to enable workers to prepare adequately for the festivities.
