Nigerian Golfers Compete in Uganda Open 2026

Four Nigerian professional golfers—Sunday Olapade, Solomon Ideria, Tajudeen Ajayi, and Godwin Okoko—arrived in Kampala, Uganda, to compete in the 2026 Uganda Open at Kampala Golf Club. This event is part of their ongoing Sunshine Development Tour (SDT) campaign, which began in June and has involved competing across East Africa to gain tournament exposure, international experience, and World Ranking points.

Olapade emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting the limited competitive opportunities for professionals in Nigeria. Okoko recently finished second at the ABSA Invitational at Ruiru Golf Club, attributing his success to team support and leadership from Olapade.

The players plan to continue their campaign in Kigali for the Sportsbiz Africa Golf event scheduled for September 11-13. Lakowe Lakes Golf Club is further supporting professionals by listing the Lakowe Lakes Classic on the SDT in October, enhancing competitive pathways for Nigerian golfers.
