Kwara Police Foil Kidnapping, Arrest Two Togolese Nationals

The Kwara State Police Command thwarted a kidnapping attempt and arrested two Togolese nationals, Yakubu Ismaila and Hadiza Kosia. The operation was initiated after the police received reports from the Okuta police division regarding threatening phone calls from an anonymous caller demanding a ransom of 22 million naira and threatening to abduct Musa Ismaila, the complainant's younger brother, if the demands were not met.

Following the report, the police launched an intelligence-driven operation, collaborating with a response team to swiftly track and apprehend the suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were directly linked to a criminal conspiracy, and during interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping and extortion plot.

The police recovered mobile phones used to issue the threatening calls. Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, commended the prompt response of the police, reaffirming their commitment to intelligence-led operations and the relentless pursuit of criminal elements in the state.
