Police Arrest Two Togolese in Kidnap Plot in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command successfully foiled a kidnapping plot in Okuta, Baruten Local Government Area, arresting two Togolese suspects identified as Yakubu Ismaila and Hadiza Kosia. The suspects allegedly threatened to abduct Ismaila unless a ransom of ₦22 million was paid.

Police intervention followed a distress report from Ismaila, who received repeated threatening phone calls demanding payment and warning of potential harm to his younger brother, Musa Ismaila, if the ransom was not paid. Police spokesperson Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi stated that the operation was intelligence-driven, utilizing technical support to track the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed during interrogation and that a mobile phone used for the threats was recovered as evidence. Kwara State Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi commended the officers for their swift and professional response, emphasizing the commitment to intelligence-led policing and urging residents to remain vigilant.
