Kwara State University Graduate Achieves First Class Degree

Israel Ajibade, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Kwara State University, gained attention on LinkedIn for his academic journey. In August 2026, he shared that he nearly settled for a Second Class Upper degree, with a CGPA of 4.40 out of 5.00 heading into his final year.

Surrounded by classmates with higher GPAs, he began rationalizing a lower outcome. However, an internal motivation prompted him to change his approach.

Over his last semesters, Ajibade improved his CGPA to 4.50, achieving a First Class classification. His academic performance included a perfect 5.00 GPA in one semester, followed by 4.65 and 4.89 in subsequent semesters.

He received three distinctions: the 2024/2025 Mechanical Engineering Best Graduating Student award, an Academic Excellence Award for First Class honours, and a Best in Thermofluid Option prize. Ajibade reflected on his experience, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and the realization that it is never too late to strive for one's goals.
