Lagos State University Graduate Overcomes Challenges for First Class

Ayomiposi Akinloye, a graduate from the Public Relations and Advertising Department at Lagos State University (LASU), earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with First Class Honours, finishing with a CGPA of 4.50 out of 5.0. In her LinkedIn post from August 2026, Akinloye recounted her tumultuous university experience, filled with both gratitude and despair.

She faced significant challenges, including a public humiliation by a lecturer who tore her assessment test script, which led her to cry in front of her peers. Despite achieving high GPAs of 4.89 and 4.76 at different points, her CGPA fluctuated, causing her distress on results days.

Akinloye also described moments of emotional breakdown while studying and during exams, emphasizing the impact of these experiences on her emotional resilience. She valued the friendships formed during her time at university, which she described as "good and quality," and concluded her post by cherishing the moment she moved her graduation tassel to the right.
