Rodri Apologizes to Valencia for "Weak" Remark

Barcelona midfielder Rodri issued an apology to Valencia captain Jose Gaya and the entire Valencia squad after television cameras captured him allegedly describing Valencia as “very weak.” The incident occurred during a private conversation with teammates Pau Cubarsi and Raphinha while Rodri was on the bench after being substituted during Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Valencia on Sunday. Although the footage lacked audio, Movistar claimed to have lip-read Rodri's comments, which sparked criticism from Valencia fans and media for perceived disrespect.

Following Barcelona's 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord on Wednesday, Rodri clarified that his remarks were an expression of surprise and not intended to mock Valencia. He emphasized his respect for the club and expressed a desire to see Valencia return to a stronger position in the league, stating, “it is one of the best clubs in the competition.” Rodri also noted that the comments were made in a private context and highlighted the tendency for remarks to be taken out of context.
