Ondo FA Chairman Calls for Corporate Support in Football

During the annual general assembly of the Ondo State Football Association, Chairman Sundai Dele Ajayi identified the absence of strong corporate sponsorship as a significant hindrance to grassroots football development in the state. He noted that despite some achievements, including winning a gold medal in football and a silver medal in the female category at the recent Niger Delta Sports Festival, financial challenges persist.

Ajayi urged the state government to restore previous monthly subventions to support the association's activities effectively. He emphasized that the football association relies heavily on corporate sponsorship, which is largely absent in Ondo State.

Ajayi also called for the government to expedite the construction of a new stadium and improve sports infrastructure. Henri Omoyofunmi, the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, stressed the need for collaboration among stakeholders to advance football development.

The assembly included attendance from football association chairmen from neighboring states, discussing ways to strengthen football administration at the grassroots level.
