Labour Party in Lagos Prepares for 2027 Elections

Sam Okpala, the Secretary of the Labour Party in Lagos State, stated that the party's structures are fully operational across all 20 local government areas in preparation for the 2027 general elections. In an interview on Tuesday, Okpala emphasized the importance of strengthening internal structures and ensuring member support despite ongoing internal disagreements.

The Labour Party has initiated voter sensitization and mobilization exercises across communities and plans to expand its grassroots presence statewide. Okpala urged residents not to let fear or intimidation deter them from participating in the democratic process, as these factors contribute to low voter turnout.

He acknowledged the internal disputes affecting the organization but expressed confidence that these issues would be resolved favorably, particularly with hopes pinned on a Supreme Court judgment that could benefit the party. The Labour Party remains optimistic about improving its political performance and making a stronger impact in the upcoming elections.
