Lagos Waste Management Authority Arrests Two for Waste Dumping

The Lagos State Government has arrested two individuals, Sabo Ali, aged 50, and Ahead Adamu, aged 30, for allegedly dumping faecal waste on a road median along the Oshodi axis. This information was shared by Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), via a statement on his X account.
The LAWMA enforcement team also sealed the abandoned property from which the illegal dumping was conducted, with assistance from KAI operatives. Dr Gbadegesin reiterated the government's commitment to identifying and disrupting illegal dumping activities, enforcing environmental laws, and protecting public spaces.
Under the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Laws, those caught dumping human or solid waste face severe penalties, including fines up to N250,000 or imprisonment for up to three months. In a related note, in February 2026, 17 individuals were convicted for open urination and defecation, each sentenced to pay N40,000 or serve one month in prison.
