LAWMA Arrests Lagos Resident for Drainage Dumping

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) arrested a resident of Meiran, Lagos State, for allegedly dumping refuse into a drainage channel during rainfall. The arrest occurred on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, by a joint enforcement team that included the LAWMA Enforcement Team, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), and mobile police officers.

The suspect, residing at No. 13 Lanre Adefiranye Street, Baale Bus Stop, was apprehended after the enforcement team received a tip-off regarding the illegal dumping. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, confirmed the arrest on his official X account.

The suspect has been taken to the KAI headquarters for further prosecution. This incident is part of ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government and LAWMA to combat indiscriminate waste disposal, which contributes to blocked drains and flooding, particularly during the rainy season.
