Umahi Defends Lagos-Calabar Highway Progress Amid Criticism

Senator Engr. David Umahi, the Minister of Works, addressed comments made by former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, stating that construction has advanced beyond Epe. During an inspection of Section 4B in Ondo State, Umahi highlighted that the project, part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope initiative, is progressing across several states, including Ogun (28KM), Ondo (52KM), Calabar (27KM), and Akwa Ibom (47KM).

He noted that over 60% of the jobs in these sections are completed, emphasizing the project's role in creating employment, improving security, and fostering economic opportunities. Umahi welcomed constructive criticism but urged critics to provide practical alternatives.

He reiterated President Tinubu's commitment to completing the highway and encouraged the Niger Delta community to support the project, which he believes will transform the region's economic future.
