Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project Progress Report

Minister of Works David Umahi announced that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is on track, dismissing criticisms and asserting its role as a strategic investment for the Niger Delta. During an inspection of Section 4B in Ondo State, he expressed satisfaction with the progress made by HITECH Construction, which is navigating challenging terrains.

The Ondo section spans 52 kilometers, while the adjoining Ogun Section 4A covers 28 kilometers, with concrete pavement already being laid. Umahi stated that the foundation for the Ondo section is expected to be completed by December, followed by six months for concrete pavement.

He clarified that the Federal Government is financing 30% of the project, with the remaining 70% under the Engineering, Procurement, Construction plus Finance (EPC+F) model. Umahi highlighted that the project would create thousands of jobs and improve security along the construction corridors.

He noted that over 1,000 workers are already employed in the Ondo section alone.
