Lagos Chief Judge Orders Deportation of Chadian Nationals and Releases Inmates in Decongestion Exercise

Lagos Chief Judge Kazeem Alogba ordered the deportation of two Chadian nationals, Musa Abubakar and Yusuf Aliu, while releasing 18 inmates during a decongestion exercise. The exercise, held at various correctional facilities in Lagos, saw beneficiaries from different centers being freed based on meeting release criteria.

Alogba stressed the importance of seizing reform opportunities and avoiding future offenses. Notable cases included Abubakar admitting to theft and being deported to Chad immediately.

Other inmates like Nneka Ogumu and Maria Okafor shared their stories of regret and plea for mercy.
