Lagos Agency Condemns Viral Video Mocking Bedwetting Child

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency condemned a viral social media video that featured a child being publicly mocked for bedwetting. The agency described the incident as an act of verbal and emotional abuse, asserting that bedwetting should not be a reason for shaming or humiliating a child.

The 49-second TikTok clip showed several women introducing themselves in relation to a boy identified as a bedwetter, with the boy appearing shy and uncomfortable as he was surrounded and teased by the women. The agency stated that such behavior is unacceptable and highlighted the importance of raising children in secure and supportive environments.

It urged adults responsible for children to protect their emotional and psychological wellbeing, emphasizing that bedwetting is not a justification for ridicule. The video sparked mixed reactions online, with some viewing it as humorous while others criticized the adults involved for embarrassing the child.
