Lagos State Deploys Patrol Team to Combat Illegal Structures

The Lagos State Government, led by Tokunbo Wahab, has commenced the removal of illegal structures along the Okokomaiko-Badagry Expressway to protect the corridor designated for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit project. Wahab disclosed this during an inspection of ongoing operations alongside senior government officials from the environment enforcement agency.

The Lagos State Environment Taskforce and the Lagos Waste Management Authority are involved in these operations. Wahab emphasized the strategic importance of this corridor as a major gateway for Nigeria and West African countries, stating that illegal occupations undermine public infrastructure and waste taxpayer resources.

To prevent future encroachments, the government announced plans to establish a permanent patrol team to ensure that illegal occupations do not return. Wahab reassured Lagosians of the government's commitment to regular monitoring and enforcement along the corridor to preserve the integrity of vital infrastructure.
