Lagos State Disburses N3bn for Land Compensation

The Lagos State Government has disbursed N3 billion in compensation to 331 individuals whose land was acquired for public infrastructure projects. This disbursement was announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during a ceremony held at Alausa, Ikeja.

Sanwo-Olu commended the affected individuals for their patience throughout the compensation process, reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring that every land acquisition is handled with a human face. He stated that the stories of those affected are not merely statistics but represent real lives impacted by government decisions.

The governor highlighted that the compensation is not an act of charity but a moral responsibility, emphasizing the need for fairness and transparency in the process. He acknowledged the legal framework under the Land Use Act, which allows for land acquisition in the public interest, while also stressing the importance of returning fair compensation promptly to maintain public trust.
