Sanwo-Olu Disburses N3.1bn to 300 Lagos Property Owners

On December 12, 2024, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented N3.1 billion in compensation to 300 property owners impacted by government land acquisition for various infrastructure projects across the state. During the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu underscored his administration's commitment to fair and transparent compensation, aligning with the Land Use Act, which mandates that land acquisition serves public interest while ensuring legal and moral obligations to compensate affected individuals.

The governor emphasized that the compensation process adheres to due process, including professional valuation and title verification, ensuring that funds reach legitimate beneficiaries. He encouraged recipients to invest their compensation wisely for their families' future.

Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat commended the affected residents for their patience, while Kamal Olowosago, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Land Bureau, reiterated the government's dedication to fair land administration. This compensation exercise reflects the government's ongoing commitment to infrastructure development, which aims to improve the quality of life for millions of Lagos residents.
