Lagos Family Accuses Police of Shielding Land Grabbers

The Olarinde Royal Family of Oguntedo Village, Satellite Town, Lagos State, has submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, alleging that officers from the Lagos State Police Command have abused their power by colluding with land grabbers. The petition, signed by Prince Yussuf Olarinde, claims that police officers from the Satellite Police Station, Area E Command, Tactical Team Area E, and the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department have frustrated investigations into violent attacks against family members and have harassed them.

The family previously protested in July 2025 over these issues. They assert that their ownership of the disputed land was established by a 1978 allocation from the Federal Military Government and affirmed by a 1989 High Court judgment.

Despite this, they allege ongoing invasions and violence from land-grabbing syndicates, with police providing protection to the perpetrators. The petition details incidents of intimidation, unlawful demolitions, and an assassination attempt on Olanrewaju Olarinde.
